ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a photographer.

And I like Photoshop.

This photograph is very symbolic to me. It symbolizes my 'happy place', Beverly Beach Campground, in this one spot of the forest. The girl symbolized a close friend with whom I have lost contact with that I met there. Being a composition of various pictures, each photograph has it's own technique. The background uses a long depth of field, while the photograph of the hand uses a short one. I made it look dreamlike by over-sharpening the image using a high-pass filter overplayed onto he original image. I primarily used rule of thirds and leading lines in this picture.

I learned a lot this year. But the things that I learned that I will use the most, is more ways to use photoshop to make photographs look great. I will definitely use these in the future in my graphic design.

If I could take this class again, I would manage my time better. It is something I am working on.

The skills I have learned during Photography have taught me to look at everything differently. I often find myself wishing that I had a camera to capture a moment when it happens. I have also learned a lot in photoshop, that will be very handy in Graphic Design.
